Building a Personal Website
Building a Personal Website
Status: In Progress
Started: 2024-01-10
Target Completion: 2024-02-28
Overview
Creating a personal portfolio website to showcase my projects, writing, and professional experience. This connects to my broader Career Development goals.
Goals
- Choose tech stack
- Set up development environment
- Design homepage layout
- Build responsive navigation
- Create project showcase section
- Write about page content
- Set up contact form
- Deploy to production
Tech Stack Decision
After researching various options (see Web Development Resources), I've decided on:
| Technology | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Astro | Static site generator |
| Tailwind CSS | Styling |
| Cloudflare Pages | Hosting |
| Obsidian + Pubit | Blog content |
Design Inspiration
Looked at several portfolios for inspiration:
- Minimalist designs with lots of whitespace
- Dark mode support
- Fast loading times
- Accessible navigation
Notes
The key insight from Book - Atomic Habits applies here: focus on small, consistent progress rather than trying to build everything at once.
